The Silver Jubilee celebrations of URise India Foundation, ‘URISE UTSAV’, unfolded in all its grandeur on November 25th & 26th, 2023, leaving an unforgettable mark on the hearts of artists and rasikas alike. This two-day extravaganza was a resounding tribute to 25 years of nurturing and celebrating Indian classical music and dance.

The event brought together stalwarts of the arts, young talents, and passionate connoisseurs, creating a golden platform where tradition met innovation. The celebrations witnessed spellbinding performances, heartfelt honors, a landmark recognition for parents of young artists, and an electrifying artistic energy that made the occasion truly remarkable.

Adding to the grandeur of the celebrations, the music student alumni body came together for a special tribute—an exclusive YouTube musical launch directed by their Guru, Maa Chinmayi. This initiative celebrated the musical legacy that URise India Foundation has nurtured over the years.This digital offering ensured that the spirit of the Silver Jubilee reached rasikas across the globe.

Jugalbandhi Series – TARANG 2023

On the morning of November 26th, the stage was set for TARANG, our flagship festival of Indian classical music and dance. This edition embraced the theme of Jugalbandhi, featuring extraordinary duets that brought together different art forms in a seamless and captivating dialogue. The performances explored rhythmic, melodic, and expressive conversations between Carnatic and Hindustani styles, Bharatanatyam and Kathak, and instrumental and vocal traditions.

Taranga Ratna Awards

The festival also hosted the 20th TARANGA KALA RATNA AWARD ceremony, where we had the honor of felicitating:

🏆 Taranga Gana Kala Ratna 2023 – Shri Anoor Ananthakrishna Sharma and Shri Tirumale Srinivas for their unparalleled contributions to music.

🏆 Taranga Nruthya Kala Ratna 2023 – Smt. Bragha Bessell for her exceptional contributions to Bharatanatyam.

These awards recognized lifelong dedication, artistic brilliance, and invaluable mentorship in their respective fields.

Making the silver jubilee celebrations all the more blessed, we offered a special tribute to two revered figures in the arts, the ‘Pitamaha’ (greatest of all times) of Music and Dance. URise Utsav proudly conferred the titles of:

🎼 URISE SANGEETHA PITAMAHA upon Shri A.V. Anand, honoring his profound influence in the world of music.

🩰 URISE NRUTHYA PITAMAHA upon Shri Venu G, a mentor and guide to countless dancers and actors.

The festival witnessed an extraordinary showcase of talent as students from various dance and music academies across Bangalore graced the stage. Performances included Bharatanatyam, Keyboard, Mrudangam and Carnatic vocal music presentations. Each presentation stood out for its technical brilliance and reinforced the significance of nurturing the next generation of artists.

The main highlight of the celebrations was the Surabhi Award Ceremony, a prestigious recognition of 50 extraordinary individuals who have significantly contributed to the world of music and dance.
In a historic first, URise Utsav became the only festival in history to honor the invaluable contributions of parents of young artists, recognizing their sacrifices, encouragement, and unwavering support. This pioneering initiative set a powerful precedent for acknowledging the unsung heroes behind every artist’s success.

The meticulous planning and execution of this landmark event were helmed by the visionary mother-daughter duo, Maa Chinmayi and Anjana Ramesh Sarma. A 55-member volunteer team worked tirelessly to ensure that every aspect of the event—logistics, artist coordination, stage management, hospitality, and promotions—was managed with precision and passion. Their unwavering dedication and ability to bring people together made URise Utsav a historic and seamlessly executed festival.
