The #BQBank is designed as a go-to platform for aspiring Bharatanatyam dancers who are seeking guidance but often lack access to experienced mentors. Many dancers face challenges that might seem simple, but without proper direction, these can become roadblocks in their journey. #BQBank aims to address this by providing clear, direct answers to common questions that young performers often hesitate to ask. This platform will allow them to connect with their role models who they deeply admire but may not have the means to reach.
Edition 1
The Bharatanatyam Question Bank Series came out in two editions on Instagram. The first one #AskTheDiva successfully brought together 20 accomplished Bharatanatyam performing artists from diverse backgrounds, each addressing a thoughtfully curated question submitted by dancers worldwide. Questions were sourced through the Instagram QnA feature, allowing dancers from across the globe to voice their curiosities and concerns. From these submissions, the most impactful and frequently asked question were selected and assigned to the dancers. Each artist responded with concise, insightful video answers, shared as Instagram Reels. The brief, to-the-point format resonated strongly with the audience, making expert advice both accessible and engaging. The series effectively addressed questions that dancers often hesitate to ask, providing practical tips, personal experiences, and valuable guidance.
Edition 2
The response from the global dance community was overwhelmingly positive, and this led us to curate edition 2 #AskThePro.
For the second edition, we expanded the series by inviting 10 experts from various fields that play a crucial role in a dancer’s life. These include nutrition, fitness, makeup, costuming, lighting, and stage design. The idea was to offer practical insights and guidance that can help dancers manage the many aspects of their art more effectively. Dancers appreciated the directness of the answers, the diversity of perspectives, and the opportunity to learn from performers and professionals they admire. The series not only fostered knowledge-sharing but also created a sense of connection within the Bharatanatyam community, bridging gaps across geographies and generations.
