Karanas are the fundamental movements that form the foundation of Indian classical dance. Rooted in the ancient text Natyashastra, these 108 movements consist of specific arm, leg, and body positions, each with its own symbolic and spiritual meaning. These 108 movements were revived by Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam.

In this specialized course, you’ll explore the tradition of Karanas, understanding the details of each movement and its place in Bharatanatyam and other Indian classical dance forms. With the guidance of Anjana Ramesh Sarma, a direct disciple of the renowned Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam, you’ll gain a structured approach to mastering these movements, enhancing your dance technique and expression.
