During the height of COVID-19, as live online performances surged in popularity, URise India Foundation broke new ground by leveraging social media to present an innovative series centered on creation, not just performance. This unique series, as its name implies, celebrated the fusion of two distinct Indian classical dance forms and delineated the intricate process of choreographing a dance number. Dancers were challenged to transform an impromptu song into a full fledged performance, offering audiences a rare glimpse into the creative journey from concept to execution.
The experience was transformative for both performers and viewers alike, showcasing the raw talent and ingenuity of emerging artists. We were honoured to feature brilliant young dancers such as Mahati Kannan (Bharatanrityam), Priyanka Rao (Bharatanatyam), Damini Bisht (Kathak), Paridhi Joshi (Odissi), Meghna Das (Odissi), Nivedha Ramalingam (Bharatanatyam), Shruti Suresh (Bharatanatyam), and Shubhi Johari (Kathak). Premiering on our Instagram page in August 2020, the series received widespread acclaim and left a lasting impact on our community.
